Construction start for Agder Hydrogen Hub

After several years of project development, an important milestone has come for Agder Hydrogen Hub and Greenstat. Construction of the project has started. Mayor of Kristiansand, Mathias Bernander, took the first symbolic dig with an excavator.

Repstad Anlegg is now starting groundworks to prepare the site for the hydrogen factory. Parts of the masses will be filled into the sea to prepare for a new quay front in the east. Most of the masses will be transported to Kristiansand city centre, where Repstad Anlegg will use the masses for the Gartnerløkka development. Hence, there will be a local mass balance. The groundworks will be completed in February 2025 and construction of the hydrogen factory itself will start according to plan in March 2025. Start of operations is planned for the fourth quarter of 2026.

Many partners and supporters were present at today’s celebration, including Kristiansand Municipality, Agder County, Port of Kristiansand and, not least, Elkem.

We at Greenstat look forward to continuing the construction phase of the Agder Hydrogen hub and will provide regular updates going forward.
